Devgandharva Mahotsav

Celebrating 24 Glorious Years of Musical Excellence

For over two decades, Devgandharva Mahotsav has been Kalyan Gayan Samaj’s prestigious annual celebration of Hindustani Classical Music—a heartfelt tribute to the timeless art form that continues to inspire and captivate audiences.

Held every December, this grand festival brings together acclaimed maestros and promising young artists on one soulful stage, creating a vibrant confluence of tradition and emerging talent. The journey began in 2001, during Kalyan Gayan Samaj’s 75th anniversary, with a three-day Hindustani Classical Music Festival that drew music lovers from Kalyan and surrounding regions. The overwhelming response inspired the team to establish this celebration as an annual event, christened Devgandharva Mahotsav.

Over the years, the festival has hosted some of the most illustrious names in Indian classical music, including legends such as Late Khansaheb Abdul Karimkhan, Ustad Faiyaz Khan, Master Krishnarao, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Smt. Hirabai Badodekar, Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, Ustad Zakir Hussain, Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia, Pt. Shivkumar Sharma, Smt. Kishori Amonkar, Smt. Prabha Atre, Smt. Malini Rajurkar, and many others.

Devgandharva Mahotsav remains a landmark festival that honors the legacy of these maestros while fostering the growth of the next generation of classical musicians.
